THE ETERNAL Recruits TARJA's Keyboardist For Upcoming Album
October 28, 2009Australian atmospheric/gothic/doom metallers THE ETERNAL have issued the following update:
"Talented Finnish keyboard player Maria Ilmoniemi [pictured below with THE ETERNAL] who we met on our recent tour in the USA (she was in Tarja's [Turunen] band) is now at her studio in Helsinki, Finland, tracking keyboards for our new album.
"Maria has almost completed her masters degree in music and has an amazing range of digital and analogue keyboards, so we are very lucky to have her onboard.
"Due to distance, it's hard to make Maria a full-time member of THE ETERNAL, so she will be the invisible fourth member on this record and also the first female in what has very much been a boys club up until now.
"We are very excited to be working with her and we are sure the results will be fantastic."
THE ETERNAL will enter 301 Studios in Byron Bay, Australia on December 3 to begin recording the new album for an early 2010 release. More information will be made available soon.
In other news, the song "To Drown" from THE ETERNAL's "Sleep Of Reason" album is featured in the motion picture "Tomboys". The band states, "It's the first time one of our songs has been in a feature-length film so make sure you check it out!"
"Lost Our Way", the latest video from THE ETERNAL, can be viewed below. The song comes off the group's most recent album, "Kartika", which was released in November 2008 via Firebox Records. The CD was issued in Australia through SLP/Amphead Music.
The artwork for "Kartika" was created by Italian designer Diego Maniscalco at Unspire. The CD was mastered by John Ruberto at Crystal Mastering.
The first pressing of "Kartika" came with a limited-edition bonus disc featuring unreleased demos & remixes; over 95 minutes of new material from THE ETERNAL.
